Cool as a hobby, right?

Especially for someone like me with a full-time handmade business, a family,

As my son would say: that seemed a little “sus.”
(and in case you don’t speak 9-year-old, that means suspicious.)
Then I was proven wrong.
Repeatedly.
FIRST IT WAS $1K MONTHS. THEN $5K.
THEN REACHING $100K IN JUST 10 MONTHS.
Now, here I am, the print on demand skeptic turned pro,
because it turns out --- I am OBSESSED with print on demand.
Who saw THAT coming?!
I FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO TELL YOU THIS THOUGH: I HAVE FAILED MANY TIMES.
BUT THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FAILING, AND FAILING FORWARD.
I’m not a designer, I’m not an artist, and my attempt at trying screenprint transfers to put designs on shirts myself failed miserably in 365 degrees of hatred (which is how I landed in print on demand in the first place). I don't have time for fussy processes, I don't have the space or resources for inventory, and I definitely don't want to do any additional fulfillment - so print on demand was my ultimate answer.
But having been a small business owner for many years, I know that the beginning of a new business journey is the hardest part. I went through the early rollercoaster of print on demand, armed only with my background in running a handmade business, some corporate-world tricks up my sleeve to make processes more efficient, and some scrappy determination to make it all work.
I have felt all the things that you're probably feeling right now. And I kept going.

A serial entrepreneur at heart with more creative energy than I know what to do with most days, it's no wonder that print on demand has been my calling since I can make endless products and never have to worry about inventory or fulfillment! When I'm not in front of the camera or a screen - I'm actually a homebody introvert, a total foodie, can quote dozens of Gilmore Girls references, and you'll usually find me hanging out with my two favorite people (aka my husband and our son).
If we're talking official LinkedIn material here, I am a human resources professional by trade, having spent over 15 years in that career and working my way through the leadership ranks (with a brief intermission in IT project management and process improvement). One of my favorite activities was training staff on new processes and systems, which is probably a big part of why I love helping others navigate their print on demand journey and creating videos along the way. I got my start on Etsy in 2017 with my handmade skincare business, thinking I was just going to have a fun side hustle. Having reached six figures in both my handmade and print on demand businesses, I am now retired from HR as of 2021, and most recently brought my husband into the handmade business from his IT career in 2023. MY LAST PIECE OF ADVICE
I know first hand the ups and downs of finding success with Etsy, print on demand, and starting a new business in general.
It takes time, discipline, and perseverance to be able to navigate that rollercoaster and really see the potential that's out there. And yet, you are completely capable of achieving this success and reaching your goals.
Successful businesses are built on consistency.
Consistency fosters momentum.
So no matter what: keep moving forward, even on the hard days.
